STEPHEN GERARD
Steve is an experienced lawyer and former judge who understands mediation and the value of getting to the printer.
Judge Stephen Gerard retired after serving 20 years as a district court judge in Iowa. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he served as part-time judicial magistrate for 12 years which included presiding over a high-volume small claims court docket. As an attorney, his practice included real estate, probate, family law, bankruptcy and other commercial law matters.
Now admitted to practice in the State of Colorado, he serves as a court-appointed guardian ad litem and parent’s counsel in juvenile court. Judge Gerard also serves as an appointed member of the Town of Breckenridge Planning Commission, and Summit County Tax Assessment Appeals Hearing Referee.
Judge Gerard understands the value of mediation in dispute resolution as a means to avoid costly and protracted litigation with uncertain results. With extensive experience from both sides of the bench in business litigation, including contracts, real estate, land use, construction, landlord/tenant, POA/HOA, Judge Gerard is committed to helping the parties reach just and equitable settlements that last. 99% of all cases reach resolution before trial; Judge Gerard will guide you to your successful resolution promptly and efficiently.
ANGELA BOEKE
Angela is an experienced lawyer and motivational coach who helps parties identify and explore the settlement possibilities that lead to lasting resolutions.
Angela is a trained mediator and an attorney who has been an Iowa Bar Association member for the past twenty-five (25) years. Her experience as a prosecuting attorney included litigation and settlement negotiations in both routine misdemeanor and high-stakes felony cases. As a sole practitioner, she handled a wide array of civil and criminal matters. In her role as city council member, she regularly dealt with parties who had conflicting interests and learned the skills necessary to seek out solutions agreeable to multiple stakeholders.
Angela has been a certified fitness coach for over twenty (20) year. She finds her coaching experience invaluable in working with parties frustrated with the litigation process but uncertain as to a feasible alternative. Her mediation style focuses on facilitating communication among parties in deadlocked but sincere disputes and motivating them to find their common interests and mutually agreeable solutions. Angela’s favorite mediation expression is “you got this.”
